Founded in 1996, BECI is the only credit insurer in Botswana, and is a private company – wholly owned by Botswana Development Corporation (BDC).BECI’s primary function is to develop and equip businesses with Trade Credit Insurance policies to protect them from the danger of non-payment by credit customers. In addition, the company now offers a selection of business growth tools, such as Construction Bonds and Guarantees.

BECI Mandate
Botswana Export Credit Insurance and guarantee Company was established in 1996, with the strategic mandate to promote Botswana's export trade and support domestic economic diversification by mitigating the financial risks faced by exporters and local businesses.
BECI operates as a wholly owned subsidiary of the Botswana Development Corporation-BDC, with strong governance structures that align with the Botswana National Development priorities, including vision 2036 and the Economic Recovery and Transformation Plan (ERTP)
